About Ann Hyde

How I got started...

My Grandmother introduced me to yoga when I was about seven years old. I remember feeling very special as we sat on her bedroom floor and she taught me yoga breathing (ujjayi breath) and some simple poses.

Finally, in my thirties, I made time to include yoga classes in my life. My first class grabbed my attention like no other exercise I had ever done and I was hooked! I was fascinated by how beautifully strong and flexible my teacher was and by the fact that I was so tight! During the second class I secretly dreamed of being up there teaching but reminded myself that I was afraid to speak in front of groups. I had no idea how much Yoga would eventually teach me about my mind and how to discover my truth.

My exploration of Yoga continues...

  • 1997-2004: Studied Ashtanga, Iyengar, Power and Vinyasa Yoga. Angela Farmer was also a big influence.
  • 2000: Certified by Robert Boustany
  • 2004: Took my first class with Ana Forrest. I was so inspired I followed her around the country taking workshops and finished the year completing the Forrest Yoga Teacher Training Course and became certified.
  • 2004-2008: My practice deepens as I continue to study extensively with Ana Forrest assisting her in workshops and attending advanced teacher trainings. I am Yoga alliance certified E-RYT and a certified Forrest Yoga teacher and mentor. Click here to find out more about the mentorship program.

What else?

When I’m not doing yoga you might find me shopping for my Interior Design clients. I received my degree from UT Austin and have been designing for 23 years.

I also enjoy playing the piano, dancing and hanging out at the beach, especially at Laguna Beach with my niece Frankie, nephew Arlo, sister Mary Kay and bro-in-law John. Life is good!
